SALARY: The salary range for this position is $42,827.
46 to $64,864.
16 for Schedule A, and $42,827.
46 to $58,067.
99 for Schedule B.
For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.
For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
Judiciary employees hired prior to August 20, 2014, are considered Schedule A.
Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 20, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Morris/Sussex Vicinage is searching for customer service oriented individuals who can manage and organize information along with strong technical competence, reasoning, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
The selected candidates may perform court support functions including but not limited to taking accurate court minutes, swearing in litigants, operating recording equipment, marking evidence, and preparing court orders.
Under the general direction of the Division Manager, or other supervisory personnel, the successful candidate will provide support to the division by performing court clerking duties, including but not limited to operating digital recording systems accurately; maintaining accurate and detailed records and logs of in-court activities; marking exhibits; administering oaths to witnesses; completing court-related paperwork.
The candidate may answer questions posed by judges, the public, clients, customers, coworkers and supervisors; provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers in person, over the phone and via written communication; compiling and entering data in computer systems; verifying records for accuracy, completeness, or conformity.
Schedule and coordinate conferences, hearing trials and other court events and perform other related duties as required.
Although the position is within the Civil Division, travel to the Morris County Courthouse (Morristown, NJ), Sussex County Judicial Center (Newton, NJ) and other Judiciary locations may be required.
REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings.
To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Example of Duties NOTE: This position may require work in a courtroom.
Employees in these titles may function as a court clerk, performing related work including, but not limited to, preparing, calling and annotating the court calendar; swearing in jurors; administering oaths to witnesses; maintaining custody of exhibits; recording and maintaining records of court proceedings; updating case information; and discussing daily court activities, scheduling of cases, calling of calendar, etc.

Qualifications Experience Requirement: One year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.
WHAT IS PROVISIONAL? This position is “Provisional”.
At a future date, the selected candidate will need to file for a Civil Service Exam and be reachable on the resulting eligible list in order to gain permanency.

Since an open competitive certification for this location is currently unavailable, applicants selected from this recruitment will be appointed provisionally at this time.
Applicants applying for this position must also apply for and take the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Open Competitive Exam and be reachable on the resulting eligible list for this location.
Applicants who do not file for the exam when it is offered, or are not reachable on the resulting list, may face removal.
Testing: Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute, or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below.
The appointing authority administered examination is waived for the following applicants who have been deemed to possess keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of 25 words per minute: All applicants who possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission or the New Jersey Judiciary.
Judiciary staff that have permanent status in a career service title requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
Judiciary staff in unclassified titles requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
Supplemental Information Physical Ability: For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching.
The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required.
Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.

2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
